Hosting the Perfect Children’s Magic Show

A children’s magic show is one of the most exciting parts of any party, and a little planning can make all the difference. At Professor Rainbows, we’ve performed at countless events and know exactly what helps make a magic show truly magical! Here are our top tips to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

  1. Encourage adults to watch too!

Adults are always welcome at a child’s party, but remember—you’ve invested in a professional entertainer, so encourage everyone to enjoy the show! It can be distracting for both the children and the entertainer if adults sit at the back talking or moving around.

If things get too noisy, don’t be surprised if your entertainer politely asks for quiet—just imagine if a group of children were chatting loudly at the back of a theatre, the adults wouldn’t hesitate to ask them to be quiet!

  2. Consider the little ones

Very young children and babies may find the excitement of a magic show a bit overwhelming, especially with all the noise, laughter, and the occasional balloon pop! Make sure toddlers are supervised at all times to prevent any distractions or accidents.

  3. Minimise interruptions

Try to avoid handing out drinks, snacks, or party bags during the show, as it can pull children’s attention away from the magic. It’s also best to avoid interrupting the show if a guest arrives late with a present—let them settle in and save gift-giving for later so the birthday child doesn’t miss any of the fun!

  4. Save Balloons & squeakers for later

Balloons and party blowers can bring joy, but during a magic show, they can quickly turn into a source of chaos! Save them for the end of the party to avoid loud distractions. Hanging balloons up instead of leaving them on the floor can also prevent sudden loud pops that may startle some children.

  5. Provide a parking space for the entertainer

Magic shows come with equipment, and your entertainer will need a convenient place to unload. If possible, reserve a parking space close to the venue to ensure a smooth setup and avoid delays.
