Our Story
The name Professor Rainbows comes from the original entertainer himself! He founded the company in 1985 with his passion for conjuring delightful memories for children. As an old-school children’s magician, he was known for his classic tricks. As was common at the time he incorporated live rabbits and doves into his performances.
Over the years, what began as a one-man act, has since grown into a talented team of performers who specialise in magic shows, music & games, face painting, circus workshops, balloon modelling, puppets, and mini discos.
Children’s entertainment has evolved over the years, and we’ve evolved with it. In the early days, it was common for magicians to use live animals as part of their acts. While this was once the norm, we’ve chosen to move with the times—so instead of using real rabbits or doves, we now bring puppets into the spotlight! Not only is it kinder to animals, but let’s be honest—the puppets are much more reliable employees, never need feeding, and they even have better jokes for the kids!
Although we’ve embraced modern approaches, the spirit of traditional children’s entertainment is still at the heart of everything we do. The laughter, the wonder, and the joy of live performances are just as magical today as they were when we first started. And whether it’s a classic magic show or a high-energy disco, we tailor our entertainment to suit today’s audiences while keeping the charm of old-school fun alive.
Our head office is based in Canvey Island, although our entertainers are located around the whole of Essex. We travel across the whole county bringing smiles and excitement to your venue.
